About the Role:
As a key leader, you will provide both operational management and hands-on leadership across multiple work teams, fostering collaboration, strengthening relationships, and driving a culture of teamwork and resilience to effectively embrace challenges and deliver outstanding outcomes. In this pivotal role, you will actively contribute to the City of Unley's cultural initiatives while leading the Response team in implementing strategic change actions to support program objectives. In this role, you will actively seek opportunities for innovation and service improvement, driving efficiencies and enhancing overall performance. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide strong leadership and management to staff and teams
• Ensuring that work processes and standard operating procedures (SOP) are applied and thoroughly documented
• Cultivating and promoting a customer-focused culture that empowers team members to consistently strive for customer satisfaction
• Overseeing both planned and unplanned maintenance schedules, as well as responding to high-priority situations safely, promptly, and in accordance with service standards
• Ensure effective communication is undertaken to engage team members and other key internal and external stakeholders
• Manage all WHS requirements for the Civil & Response team
• Manage day to day staffing levels to ensure the required outcomes are achieved by the Civil & Response team
• Assist the Coordinator Operations in the procurement of day-to-day materials or equipment to ensure teams complete their work plans
• Monitor and manage allocated plant and incidental resources utilised by the Civil & Response team
• Assisting in regular reviews of policies and procedures
• Supervise Labour Hire and Trainees, including induction, onboarding and any associated paperwork, for the Response & Signage team
• Ensuring customer requests are completed on time against work orders and agreed customer service levels are met
• Perform any other functions and duties as required as directed by the Coordinator Operations
Skills and experience:
• Contemporary knowledge of infrastructure maintenance practices and procedures
• Sound working knowledge of the Workplace Health & Safety Act, EEO workplace principals and Environmental Management Principals
• Extensive knowledge and skills in the relevant disciplines required for the effective delivery of the teams' tasks
• Knowledge of the preparation and management of budgets
• Skills in leading and motivating a team and providing effective performance feedback
• Ability to apply sound decision making and problem-solving skills in response to emergency situations and customer requests
• High level of interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Negotiation, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
• Computer literacy in software such as Excel, Word and Outlook, Enterprise Management software
• Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and develop people in order to manage work and resources across a range of complex projects
• Required to work as part of a roster to Coordinate Council's emergency after hours call out activities
Desirable Qualifications & Skills:
• Certificate lll in a relevant discipline and Certificate IV in Leadership or Management, or equivalent
• Experience in Council depot operations and the relevant disciplines required for the role
• Experience in supervising staff and leading small teams of employees
• WZTM Certificate
• Senior First Aid Certificate
• Drivers Licence Class LR, MR and/or HR
