About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accountant In this role, you will be responsible for the general accounting functions, including maintaining general and subsidiary ledgers, preparing journal entries, and performing balance sheet reconciliations. You will play an essential role in monthly and annual closings, ensuring the accuracy of financial statements and statutory compliance with state and federal taxes. Key Responsibilities
Prepare journal entries, including payroll-related, bank, accruals, prepayments, AR/AP, inventory, project, and general postings
Maintain general ledger operations to ensure accurate financial statements
Reconcile and maintain balance sheet, revenue, and expense accounts, including bank reconciliations and addressing any discrepancies
Prepare account analyses upon request
Assist with month-end and year-end closings
Prepare monthly financial reports as required
Review and finalize project costings on service jobs, including variance analysis
Calculate and prepare tax computations and returns for payroll tax, BAS/GST, income tax, FBT, statutory payroll deductions, and other required taxes
Handle Workcover, insurance, and other statutory and operational returns
Calculate employee liabilities and maintain the fixed asset register
Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts
Review and process employee expense reports
Contribute to the audit preparation and coordination
Help implement and maintain internal financial controls and procedures
Perform other reasonable duties as requested
Skills & Experience
Experience with Pronto is advantageous
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent
Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) preferred
Experience in general accounting and financial reporting, with knowledge of local, state, and federal laws regarding accounting, taxation, and finance
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent organisational and time management skill
Effective problem-solving and analytical skills
Outstanding communication and presentation abilities, adaptable for various organisational levels
Discretion in handling confidential matters
