About the Role:
In this essential role, you will take charge of establishing, maintaining, and overseeing procurement agreements, driving a customer-centric culture that priorities the delivery of effective and cost-efficient services. Your keen attention to detail will ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and with optimal use of resources. By fostering collaboration across teams, you will contribute to the seamless implementation of projects and the continuous improvement of service delivery, enhancing both operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop, negotiate, and maintain contracts for depot services and supplies, ensuring compliance with council procurement policies
• Review and monitor contract performance, including the quality and timeliness of service delivery
• Coordinate the engagement of contractors and suppliers for depot operations
• Managing Business Precinct service delivery to agreed standards
• Ensure all procurement agreements and contractor engagements comply with WHS requirements and legislation
• Maintain accurate records of contracts, procurement activities, and contractor performance
• Assist in budget tracking related to procurement and contractor services
• Build and maintain positive relationships with internal teams, contractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth operational delivery
• Customer service/contract management relating to 3rd party contractor service delivery including (not limited to) Waste Services
• Manage & deliver small scale Projects focussed on City Operations improvement strategies
• Support the delivery of the City of Unley, Workplace Health & Safety and Return to Work Strategic Plan
• Actively contribute to the leadership of City Operations in delivering Operational outcomes and creating a positive workplace culture
Skills and Experience:
• In-depth knowledge of procurement methodologies, tendering processes, and contract negotiation techniques
• Understanding of public sector procurement regulations and policies, particularly those relevant to local government
• Comprehensive understanding of WHS regulations and best practices relevant to contractor engagement and depot operations
• Proficiency in contract management software and Microsoft Office Suite
• Managing resources (financial, human and physical) to ensure activities are delivered to plan, within timeframes, quality and budget
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage work and resources across a range of complex projects
• Proven ability to negotiate towards common organisational outcomes, particularly when faced with resistance
• A commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous learning
Desirable Qualifications & Skills:
• Demonstrated leadership in a local government context
• Proven experience in procurement, contract administration, or supply chain management.
• Strong understanding of WHS legislation and the ability to apply safety standards to contractor engagements and procurement processes.
• Knowledge of financial management principles related to procurement, including cost control, budgeting, and financial reporting.
